Check out our latest Press Release about sponsoring Doberman Rescue of Minnesota this year. Our January newsletter features one of their available dogs too!
A personal message from Jenny Gott, Animal Wellness Practitioner and owner of Peace of Mind, Body & Soul: This animal rescue, Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue, has opened my eyes to the front line of what really happens to unwanted, surrendered, abandoned and abused animals. For years I have adopted from, participated in events, promoted and helped raise funds and awareness for a variety of rescues, but never had I experienced the reality of what happens when rescuing an animal and what it takes to save them. Becoming a foster parent was an awesome moment, both fulfilling and utterly devastating at the same time. I was able to save one but also I saw firsthand the brutal reality that the rescues cannot save them all. I left two others behind knowing they would not be saved and that I could not take them. Good, healthy and loving animals die because we cannot or choose not to find a place in our homes for them. My heart was broken and it hurts me every day to know that every day there is another animal that dies because of the decisions we make for them. We – the human race - have domesticated these animals and we have made the choice to have them as pets and therefore I believe they are our responsibility, period. Not just our responsibility when they are fun, or when we don’t have a significant other or when we don’t have a child or when we have a job. We made them pets and did not leave them as wild animals suited to fend for themselves. They are living beings deserving of loving homes and a life they can flourish in.
Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is a small 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered animals in high kill shelters. Although they are small, Wags has made large gains in the rescue world. In 2011 alone they rescued and found homes for over 278 dogs/puppies and 53 cats/kittens. Dedicated and passionate volunteers, especially foster homes, are the life line of this rescue. Wags does not have a physical shelter; each animal is placed in the home of a volunteer foster until they are adopted. Because the animals are living with families in real life situations, the volunteers know the animals very well and have an understanding of what kind of home is best for each animal - giving them a successful placement and adoption rate.

I’m excited to announce our first rescue we are teaming up with is Doberman Rescue of Minnesota. These folks and the special dogs they find loving homes for are near & dear to my heart. My Tucker came from them and I was blessed with nine wonderful years with him. He was loyal, dedicated and stoic….a true testament of the breed. I’ve spent many years supporting them in various ways and love that we can help them spread the word about their program and the available dogs. Also, when these featured dogs find their new family, they will be given special rates on services from Peace of Mind, Body & Soul throughout the year.
